Bringing Old Stories to Life
To mark the release of Ed Sheeran’s upcoming single Old Phone, our partners at Pink Sparrow brought us on to create “The Old Phone Pub” - a warm and nostalgic, fully functional pub that embodied the themes of the song. The space served as the set for a live performance featured in the official music video, while also being a legit pub that fans could visit during two separate pop-up stops.
A Publicity-Worthy Pub
For our first stop, we popped up in Ipswich, Massachusetts - the U.S. counterpart to Ed Sheeran’s Ipswich, England. We designed a pub that looked like it had always been there, inviting fans to visit and become part of the “Old Phone” music video that was shot inside.
Old Phone, New Music Video
The music video was shot to feel intimate and in-world, with Ed simply sitting on a chair in front of a crowd that enjoyed a round of pints while enjoying his music. It was almost as if Ed was a local act instead of a multi-platinum recording artist.
Speakeasy-Style at Coachella
The Old Phone was completely redesigned for Coachella as a speakeasy with music fans stepping inside a phone booth that was actually a secret entrance. Once inside, they could kick back and have a pint, and some very lucky guests were treated to surprise performances by Ed and his talented friends like Shaboozey and Alex Warren.
